Litter Free World Changing Me Quest

Litter Free

Your Quest (should you choose to accept it) is to

Help make your 'hood Litter Free

Level 1: #3LitterThings
1

Pick up 3 pieces of litter and put them in the bin (or recycling if they are clean enough) #3litterthings

Couldn't be easier!

No bin nearby? Keep them with you until you find one. Like doh!

Level up to #5buttsonFriday (#5butts} (cigarettes) or #10wastechallenge (#10things) (seriously cool peeps). They all count to complete this level.

Remember to photograph what you do and share on your favourite social channel. Be the change and create a new normal.

Level 2: #2Minutes
2

Spend just 2 minutes picking up litter. You don't need an official #2minutebeachclean board to do this (but they are nice aren't they).

Not near a beach? Check out #rubbishwalks - these guys pick up litter while they are (wait for it ...) out on walk and you can too!

Want to get fit? Try mixing it up and picking up litter during the walking "breaks" in your #couchto5K program (#couchto5Kg).

Photos, photos, photos please #tag us and all the memes. Nice one 🙂

Level 3: #1Event
3

Okay, so you've probably done all previous levels on your own.

It's time to go public with your passion for picking up plastic. Find a community or beach clean event near you and help make it awesome.

There is always something you can plan to get involved with. Check out the #bigspringbeachclean or #greatbritishspringclean for starters (which this year is in September!).

Put them in your diary, on the kitchen calendar or (other useful time management tool) so you don't forget. Get your friends involved too. Many hands make light work n all.

Yes it is. Litter is inherently filthy. It's been on the street, it's been in the mud. Cars have driven over it, dogs may have (well you know what dogs could have done). Don't be daft. Don't pick it up if you don't know what it is and certainly don't go picking up dangerous things or things in dangerous places. DO NOT pick up litter with your bare hands. Always wear gloves and use a litter picker where possible. Make sure you wash your hands and equipment thoroughly before and after use. Nuff said. Oh and afterwards ... WASH YOUR HANDS! **.
These quests were written before coronavirus. We have heard that many people, who were previously picking up litter, are now concerned that they may be at risk from coronavirus by doing so. Our advice is to just be sensible and don't do anything that you consider risky. If a piece of litter looks like it has recently been thrown away and you want to pick it up make sure you take appropriate precautions or (as difficult as it may be) don't pick that piece up - sadly we are sure there will be plenty of other opportunties! WASHING YOUR HANDS is even more important than ever - but you would have dont that anyway, right?
well obviously it does count, but no one but you will know about it, which is fine if that's the way you want it to be, but people need to see change and others need to feel part of a group and that's where YOU can help make things the new normal by sharing what you have done.
